hello!

I'm Meg, an engineer and lover of food, fitness and nutrition. I've had a love for cooking since before I can remember. As I grew older, I also developed a love for nutrition and fitness - continually searching for the best way to fuel my body. While my approach to nutrition has changed over the years, I've always managed to create delicious and healthy recipes along the way.

So what exactly is My Engineered Nutrition?

I'm so glad you asked! Being the engineer that I am, I love finding solutions to complex problems. I believe each person has a unique solution for solving their nutrition. We can all engineer our nutrition.

I've come to this conclusion after many years of experimenting on my own nutrition. You name it, I've tried it. I've been a vegetarian, tried "Clean Eating", dabbled in carb cycling and carb backloading, followed strict Paleo, discovered the Autoimmune Protocol and most recently, flexible dieting. In addition to my nutrition, I also have been very passionate about my fitness goals. I have been an NPC Figure competitor and most recently fallen in love with olympic weightlifting. My nutrition has needed to adapt to support my level of training.

What did I learn from all of this? Nothing is a one size fits all solution.

Instead, I've engineered my own nutrition. For me that means I've eliminated gluten, nuts, beans/legumes and only occasionally will allow dairy, eggs and nightshades . Do I eat perfectly? Heck no! (I mean, sometimes you've just got to try that decadent dark chocolate cake, am I right?) Food should be enjoyed, not stressed over. However, I strive to follow a balanced  approach to nutrition as often as  I can. I've learned how certain foods affect my body, what gives me the most energy in relation to athletic performance and most importantly what makes me feel happy and healthy. It has been a long road for me to get to this point, but I've been learning the entire way.

I hope to use this site to share my knowledge with you and answer any questions you may have on nutrition. Of course, I will also be sharing the recipes I've created! I never over complicate my cooking and always use fresh ingredients, full of flavor.

If you have any questions you'd specifically like answered or have ideas for recipes I can create, I'd love to hear from you! Please send me a note and I'll be sure you respond.

Thanks for stopping by!
